Featuring a sneak peek of choruses from Reinaldo Moya‘s upcoming opera Tienda, which tells the story of Luis Garzón, a Mexican musician who immigrated to Minneapolis in 1886 and opened a small Mexican grocery store, or tienda, in St. Paul in the 1920s.
We also explore connections between Minnesota and Latin America and present choral works by emerging Latinx composers, including Valeria Jonard and Mari Valverde paired with works by Minnesota composers Abbie Betinis, Carol Barnett, and Linda Kachelmeier.
