2019 VOCALESSENCE ¡CANTARÉ! COMMUNITY CONCERT

MAY 23 2019

Hear our community come together as hundreds of students join VocalEssence to celebrate Mexico in song at the VocalEssence ¡Cantaré! Community Concert. The culmination of a year-long composer-in-residence program, this bilingual concert includes premieres and an audience sing-along that will leave you with a renewed hope that music can change the world. In 2018-2019, students met with acclaimed composer Pablo Mendoza Halliday over three visits, for a total of four weeks between October and May, to collaborate and compose new choral pieces; the final works premiered at the Ordway Music Theater in Saint Paul, MN on Tuesday, May 21, 2019.

The Harding High School Chamber Choir was selected to be a part of this experience! We will be premiering “Cancion Ligera”, written especially for us, and “Mi Tierra”, with text inspired by conversations between Pablo and Harding students!
